5,000 years ago, Egyptian priests called the astral body
'Ka'
· References to OBEs appeared in the writings of Greek philosophers
Plato and Herodotus
· Conscious projections are also documented
in the Bible
....-
Ezekiel III:14; the Apocalypse of John 1:10-11 and 4:2;
....- Epistles of Paul of Tarsus,
(II Corinthians 12:2).
Historically the projective phenomenon has been the subject
of skepticism and at times, erudite suspicion and even active
persecution. Repressionist forces such as the Inquisition
caused the study and practice of conscious projections 'underground'
during the Middle Ages and much of the experience that had
been accumulated up until that time was diluted, oftentimes
replaced by erroneous myth and legend.
These
half-truths formed the basis for various apocryphal tales
describing the apparent dangers of astral travel, many of
which persist to this day. 18th and 19th centuries pioneers
Emanuel Swedenborg ( A Swedish philosopher ) Honoré de Balzac
( French author ) and Allan Kardec ( creator of Spiritism
) each played a significant role in advancing general understanding
of concepts surrounding the out-of-body experience and other
para-psychic phenomena.

Today
Whilst science has brought mankind many benefits, equally,
the continued underlying hypothesis that all of life is based
entirely in the natural sciences continues to preclude the
greatest discoveries about man's existence from being made.
The
personal experience of the OBE transcends education, race,
nationality, gender and religion as well as ignoring social
and economic standing and other dogmas - people from all walks
of life have been recording the separation, departure and
return of a non-physical, subtle body with remarkable consistency
since ancient times.
